America.gov AI: How the Federal AI Search Experience Works

America.gov AI refers to the AI-assisted search and answer layer used by the new America.gov federal gateway. GSA announced the platform on September 29, 2026 and said it combines information from more than 29,000 government websites with AI-enhanced search technology. The White House describes America.gov as a single digital point of entry for federal information and services.

A generated answer is a summary. A federal source may contain definitions, exceptions, deadlines, eligibility criteria, forms and instructions that cannot fit into a short response.
